Age 41

My favorite thing about being a woman over 40 is prioritizing what will make me happy and no longer worrying about what others think of me. I spend time thinking about what I value in life, and then put my time, money and energy toward those things. I wish I would have figured out how to live an intentional life sooner!

I am living my most extraordinary life right now by spending my time, money and energy on the things that are most important to me and by continuously asking myself this very question. Right now, that means spending quality time with my family, taking care of myself physically, running a successful business built around a positive team culture, and finding unique ways to boost my personal creativity!

In the next decade, I aspire to become young “snow birds” by having a lake front home in Michigan where we’ll spend the summers as a family boating, swimming and watching the sunsets. Second, to get the state record for my age and weight class in powerlifting and to continue showing myself what I’m capable of physically and mentally.

When I saw my portraits for the first time, I felt a mix of “I can’t believe that’s me!” and “That’s totally me!” I tried to pick outfits that felt like me yet weren’t the ways in which most people see me. I tried to show strength but in various forms – physical, professional, emotional, etc. It takes courage to prioritize myself, be silly, try new things, be bold, lift heavy and run a business! I’ve learned to unleash that courage in my 40’s and it feels amazing! The photos captured it all!
