Mary Patry

Age 67

My favorite thing about being a woman over 40 is knowing who I am, what is important to me, and having confidence in myself. I love not feeling the need to impress. I am me; I am a work in progress by my own terms.

I am loving my most extraordinary life. The first half of my life was focused on supporting and pleasing others. Over the last 20 years, I’ve slowly found the true me and came into my own.  My husband is my life partner, best friend and love. I am more confident today than any time in my life.

My dreams for the next decade is to continue to evolve as a women and to grow into my senior years with grace. My second aspiration is to finally write and publish my story. Sharing my story will serve two purposes: one, to yell my shit out loud revealing my imperfections and vulnerabilities, and two, share the lessons I’ve learned for other women to consider in their own journey. I also look forward to being the best person I can be as a wife, mother, grandma, and friend.

I was overwhelmed when I saw my portraits for the first time. I was never a pretty girl and certainly never beautiful. I was often called “cute”.  I reconciled that looks were not important. Seeing the photos stunned me…the person in the photos is pretty – beautiful even! For the first time in my life, my inner beauty showed externally.  Thank you Karianne.
