My favorite thing about being a woman over the age of 40 is how much more confident I feel the older I get. I care less and less what other people think of me, and I care more and more about how I feel about the person looking back at me in the mirror. I know who and what are the most important, and am better able to make those a priority.
I am living my most extraordinary life right now at age 51! I became a mom at age 40 – something so amazing that I didn’t know how much I wanted and needed. I also have been growing my accounting practice over the last 16 years – most rapidly over the last two years. The deeper I get into running my business, the more opportunities I have to make connections to amazing people – clients and colleagues alike, opportunities to travel and learn from other business owners.
As much as I love learning and growing as a business owner, my dreams over the next decade include stepping back from running the day-to-day operations and stepping more into an advisory role for the ‘next generation’ in my business. Also over the next decade, my son will be entering adulthood. Seeing what gifts he will bring into the world is something I’m very much looking forward to.
Oh wow, what an experience! As amazing as I felt while *taking* the photos, actually *seeing* the final result was even better. I saw myself in a way that I never had before – seeing those different facets of myself being expressed in those photos. And the feedback I received from friends and family was incredible. I hope that ALL the women who take part in this project share their own photos far and wide – let the younger generation see how much beauty and power there is in embracing ourselves as we age gracefully.
